			<title>Education and Training Fair for Asian Women</title>
			<link>http://www.prodiverse.net/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=196&amp;Itemid=103</link>
			<description>
The above event was held at Ilford Town Hall, London Borough of Redbridge, on Thursday 5th 2008 from 10:00am &amp;ndash; 15:00pm and attended by Ms

Preeti Varu , Outreach Officer, ProDiverse UK Ltd. Although it was primarily targeted at Asian women, all different segments of the local community were welcome to attend.

The objective of the fair was to allow a mixture of different local organisations who serve the education, training and employment needs of the various ethnic minority communities in North and North East London, to all come together under one roof and in one setting for the day. This is so the general public can (1) know that they exist; (2) what services and opportunities they currently have on offer that could best suit their present needs; (3) achieve the longer term goal of assisting them back into sustainable employment.

The fair was well attended by Asian and Black British, Black Caribbean and Black African women of all varying age groups, particularly women in middle age, who are contemplating returning to work after having raised a family, and older women, who are seeking to retrain and earn some extra income on the side. Throughout the day, free food and drink was on offer, and entertainment was provided, in the form of a traditional folk drama. There were also some additional exhibitors, from stands ranging from environmental awareness, to fair trade with developing countries.

Although the event was held in Ilford, Redbridge, it also attracted people from the surrounding boroughs of North, North East and East London, such as Newham,

Waltham

Forest , Barking and Dagenham, Haringey, Havering etc. The key areas of interest and needs of the people who attended the fair, centred on the issues of additional help with improving their basic skills (i.e. English, Mathematics and Information Technology), job opportunities for lone parents and mothers, personal development, and additional support offered once they are in employment. The Prodiverse, ASHA Hope and Lone Parent projects also attracted a considerable amount of interest, with many flyers being handed out on the day, both to local residents in Redbridge, and to those slightly further away.

Overall, it was both a highly successful and well attended event, with the Mayor of Redbridge giving a speech, and a key local community organisation for Asian women, being presented with an award.

12th June 2008.

Mr. Gordon Boateng, Senior Recruitment Consultant has been appointed Manager of Cheshunt Football Club. An avid football fan and coach he brings his skilful mentoring skills to his job . A recent article published in the Local newspaper Mercury, indicates that Mr. Boateng has acquired 12 new young players, this comes at a time when Cheshunt has been bereft of experienced players. He has overhauled the playing staff and brought forward a revolution. He has placed emphasis on discipline and hard work. As he said Everyone who signs will be here for the cause. Anyone not prepared to fight and work hard will not be staying at this club. People who know me know I am all about the discipline.
