Feel Like a Migrant EU Project ProDiverse is pleased toannounce its involvement in FLAM Grundtvig, a Multilateral project funded bythe European Union. This project is a migrant integration project targeted atteachers, trainers and other educational staff who in every day working lifehave personal contact with migrants. Theproject "Feel Like A Migrant" (FLAM) aims are:
- To develop and implement concept of multicultural teaching approach as a new strategy and method in teaching, through developing and realisation of workshops for trainers, teachers and other educational staff;
- To develop innovative methods for workshops participants to experience what it feels like to be a migrant , hence the title "feel like a migrant" and thereby enhance their empathy for their daily contact with migrants;
- To promote an awareness of the importance of cultural and linguistic diversity in Europe;
- To promote an understanding of cultural backgrounds and provide reflection in order to increase tolerance and to reduce prejudices and Xenophobia.
Main Activities
pilot workshops for trainers, teacher and education staff working with migrants in Austria, France, UK and Spain;
- The development of handbook (curriculum and tools) for trainers, teachers and education staff working with migrants including teaching materials, tools and detail description of the modular curriculum in the following languages: English, German, French, Spanish and Romanian;
- The creation of an internet website platform enabling communication among partners organisations in the 5 EU countries participating and access to the handbook with teaching materials;
- To publish best practice in national languages of participating partners;
To disseminate information via promotion events in Germany, France, Romania , Spain , Austria and the UK;
To host a conference for all project partners and other non-participating EU countries
Impactenvisaged: It is hoped that the project will enable participants to have a better understanding of culture not only other peoples but also their own and the complex process which people go throughto become members of communities, developing shared attitudes, values and norms which facilitates the process of integration. Trainers,teachers and other education staff equipped in multicultural competencies areable to take into account cultural diversity of learners, to better understandcultures and its implications to learning process, and last but not least theycan be more flexible in their changing role in adult learning.
